In a twist of irony, it seems that while Cisco and Apple battle each other over the iPhone trademark, a new detail has emerged. Cisco has been accused of violating the GPL within the same product.
According to Armijn Hemel, a member of the GPL Violations Project, Cisco has failed to release the source code for components within the GNU/Linux powered WIP300 iPhone.
Things just keep getting more and more interesting.

I'm sorry but this looks a lot like the TiVo issue where the company is USING GPL software in their equipment. As far as I can tell they are not "redistributing" the software.
Under the GPL if they use
Under the GPL if they use the code ONLY for internal or otherwise private use, then they do not have to make their modifications available to the public.
However, if they start shipping a product to the public that contains the modifications, they must make the code available.
