I was feeling a bit nostalgic today and I found myself browsing old screen shots of Afterstep, fvmw, blackbox, KDE 1.0, etc.
It is an interesting feeling to look back on things you used to use. You cannot help noticing just how far things have come and it invariably leaves you wondering where all that time between then and now went so quickly.
I just had to shake my head. Even though it was over ten years ago, it still feels like it was yesterday when my father came home with a copy of Red Hat Linux 5.0 that he purchased on a whim and inadvertently started me on this journey.
I kind of wish that I still had backups and screen shots of my setups from back then. It is a shame that all I have left is my configuration files for blackbox which are dated 2001.
How long have you been using GNU/Linux? Feel free to share some of your fond memories in the comment section if you want too.

Re: I just realized that I have been using GNU/Linux for ...
I've been using GNU/Linux for 6 years now and have never missed, thought about or had the notion to explore the "other" OS. I started by buying a copy of Mandrake 8...which quickly got switch to SUSE. But soon after I switched to Debian and have been Debian since Woody and have grown to love my gnome desktop.
I have proudly "converted" three people to Linux. That seems small but Three HARDCORE windows users to linux is a huge score for the team. Right now and for the past three years, I have used 64Studio which is debian with that little realtime kernel patch in there for Music Production.
Love it,,,won't Leave it!!

by the way happy holidays....
Re: I just realized that I have been using GNU/Linux for ...
I started playing around with Linux in November of 1994. I had gotten my hands on a CD containing Slackware Linux. Unfortunately, I don't remember the version. The first version I remember trying X-Windows with was Slackware 3.4. Unfortunately for me due to my job, Linux is merely a part time hobby for me and I don't know the inner workings as well as I wish I did.
